A TALE OF TWO BRIDGES
"In the mid-1880's, pioneers came over the Cascade Range and down into the Mckenzie River valley, and were stopped in their tracks by the river and its tributaries. They built bridges with the materials at hand, abundant Douglas fir, red cedar and hemlock. . . . They covered the bridges to make them last . . .and communities grew up around them."
